What Should I Do Before My Treatment Appointment?
This is a fairly common patient question. Most routine dental procedures including root canal therapy and minor surgical treatments in which only local anesthesia is used, you do not need to alter your medication or eating schedule. It is important that you DO NOT discontinue or stop any prescription medications prescribed by your physician unless specifically instructed to do so by Dr. MacIntyre or your primary care physician. Prior to your treatment appointment Dr. MacIntyre will review your medical history and consult with you and your physician if any changes to your medications are required.
For surgical treatment (root-end surgery, bone grafting, etc.) please DO NOT wear makeup. Cosmetics can contaminate the surgical site.
Also, please refrain from taking pain medications at least 6 hours before an evaluation appointment. Taking pain medications can make it difficult to accurately diagnose your potential endodontic problem.
For patient's using sedation for their dental treatment there are specific recommendations to follow. Please review the Pre- and Post-Sedation Instructions.
